ADAPTIVE YOGA VIDEOS

For your home practice

PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING YOUR YOGA PRACTICE::

These adaptive yoga sequences are intended for people with a variety of mobility restrictions. While some people may be able to practice on their own, others may need assistance. Do what you can with what’s available to you. If a pose isn’t working for you, try a smaller range of motion or get creative modifying the pose to fit your needs. Even if you don’t have time for a full practice, choosing three or four poses is still beneficial. And keep your computer close so you can pause or rewind easily.

We like to use a lot of props in adaptive yoga but until you decide to invest in your own props, here are some good stand-ins:

  • Strap:: belt or tie

  • Bolster:: a couple pillows or folded blanket

  • Sandbag:: a big bag of dry rice or beans (or dry rice or beans in a tube sock)

  • Blocks:: books

YOGADAPT SERIES #1- FULL LENGTH ADAPTIVE YOGA PRACTICE:

Tammy has graciously agreed to share her practice with you. Ashley will be demonstrating some adjustments as an added bonus for those times you have a partner to assist you in your practice. Liza will be guiding you through your practice.

YOGADAPT SERIES #2- Short ADAPTIVE YOGA PRACTICE in bed:

Please enjoy this simple adaptive yoga sequence done in bed to begin or end your day. This video is great for students who otherwise wouldn't be able to get onto the floor for supine poses. Of course, if it's accessible, feel free to practice on the floor. This video is split into two because I was having some technical difficulties and I couldn't figure out how to edit them together! Sorry about that...

AN AMAZING VIDEO OF A MAN WITH A BROKEN FEMUR DOING ASHTANGA YOGA!:

This 15-minute video shows an ashtanga yoga sequence modified for a man healing from a broken femur bone. Because the video is time-lapsed it is difficult to follow along with but it will give you ideas on how to modify traditional poses for your own practice.
